Henry's birthday parties

This year was Henry's first experience with our inevitable two-party birthday celebrations.

Here is John, Thomas, and Henry on Henry's birthday awaiting the present time.

Henry trying out his new piano. I believe this is the only time he has gotten to play with it. It seems to be a big favorite with the older siblings.

And here is Henry opening a present with lots of help.

He wasn't quite sure what to do with the cake time. He was not happy about being back in the high chair again. It is a love-hate relationship for him. He loves the food but hates the restraint.

But he decided to give it a shot.

As did these other munchkins...

And I think he rather liked the results

Just an FYI - these pictures are not "photoshopped". The icing really was that awful shade of bleeding Vols orange. His shirt has not been the same since.

Birthday party #2

On the Saturday following Henry's birthday, our family gathered to have a BBQ and some birthday cake. Pictured here is our new (almost) brother-in-law Brad, Amy, Dave and Bailey, Teresa, Becca, Sue, and Thomas.

Here is a very exuberant Tyler, Lindsey, John and Henry.

And Grandpa and Grandma Bradshaw.

Grandma Christine was also there, but was working hard cleaning up the kitchen at the time. Bless her!

John and Henry.

Tom and Mary Alice helping Henry open his presents... Which really means, raiding the packages to see what goodies there were and then taking off with them.

Henry opening the ball from Aunt Amy and Uncle Brad.

Now, you have to be impressed with this cake. It took me forever...

To pick out, that is.

Walmart on a Saturday is hell, didn't ya know? And combine that with two kids vying for the first place position and subsequent drooling rights in front of the bakery display case and yelling "Get the dinosaurs! No, I want the butterflies!". There really ought to be a special award for just entering those big box doors, let alone for dragging Thing 1 and Thing 2 along with you.

Anyway, I had big plans for making a cake. I really did, but we spent the weekend working on the kitchen, so the toilet cake I was going to make never came to fruition. Yes, that's right. I wanted to make a toilet cake - cause if there is one thing in the world Henry loves more than anything - it would be a toilet.

Here he is with his volcano dinosaur cake that is almost as cool as his toilet cake would have been.

This time, he wasn't as shy about digging in.

And just look at that happiness!
